Announcing The Roadhouse Artists for 2021…

Desertscene are back with a celebration of the Best of British heavy desert rock, psychedelia and stoner. With Saturday headliners being none other than the epitome of British rock’n’roll, ORANGE GOBLIN.

Celebrating 25 years as a tried & true heavy metal institution, frontman Ben Ward shares the following: ‘After more than 12 months of sitting around and waiting to get back to playing live, we are delighted to announce that we will be joining the amazing line-up at Black Deer Festival in June. This will be the first show for Orange Goblin with our new, ‘yet-to-be-announced’ bass player and we love the idea of this one being a little different from the average ‘Metal’ festival! Black Deer is bringing together the top names from Country, Blues, Americana & Bluegrass. But thanks to our long-time friends at Desertscene our worlds of Stoner, Doom and Metal, are also effortlessly tied together, all by the true essence of Rock ‘n Roll!

Genre-bending prog-doom stalwarts ELEPHANT TREE will take us on an otherworldly trip as Friday night headliners of The Roadhouse. A band whose expressive, forwarding-thinking and down-right heavy groove has been making serious waves across the entire music industry. In their own words, “If the sound of Kyuss and Smashing Pumpkins partying with Hunter S. Thompson and Cult Of Luna in an arena sounds like a good time, then this is for you.” Yep, that works for us! Now, imagine yourself in a poster riddled, red-lit backroom in the 1970’s as we welcome Sunday night headliners THE ADMIRAL SIR CLOUDESLEYSHOVELL to The Roadhouse. As crazy live as the name would suggest, The Shovell have honed their high octane proto-metal sound for well over a decade now. The Hasting’s based three-piece take the most loved aspects of 70’s hard rock, rolling them into a gritty, fastpaced, zero-f’s-given barrage of groove.

Roadhouse favourites STEAK will return in 2021, bringing a huge slab of raw and juicy rock’n’roll to the deer park with their unmissable live performance. Joined by stoner-fuzz heroes STUBB, whose riff-laden sound is the perfect soundtrack to the story of The Roadhouse. Yorkshire based PSYCHLONA, who may have coined the genre ‘kebab’n’roll desert rock’, are more likely to make you feel like you’ve woken up in far-out dimension than in Bradford with chronic indigestion.

Having supported the likes of Motörhead, Megadeth and Down, KING CREATURE are no strangers to the UK circuit. If you want to see what Lemmy was so enamoured with, then we highly recommend you paying a visit for their set at The Roadhouse. Conjuring a cinematic landscape through the power of instrumental excellence, MOUNTAIN CALLER will make their mark on Black Deer with an expansive and mesmerising set. Whilst one of the last bands standing from the late 90’s wave of heavy blues, GORILLA play true, honest and dirty rock ‘n roll, bringing maximum-riff-mania with them wherever they go. And dragging vintage heavy rock vibes kicking and screaming into the modern era is the name of the game for Cheshire-based 1968.

PROSPERINA wield their tools with the utmost precision, creating evocative and multidimensional sounds, all spearheaded by a grunge-tinged riff that will work its way in to your ear for the rest of days. Blues of the best kind will be cast over The Roadhouse thanks to the impeccable tones of CLOCKWORK WOLF & CO. Whilst London’s BLACK ORCHIDS, with Kay Elizabeth’s vocals echoing those of Janis Joplin, weave a path through expansive instrumentation and catchy rhythms. Stoner rock trio DUNES take us back to desert landscapes in the California sun with their heavy blues riffs and finally, to round up we welcome the hard-hitting duo LEAD DESERT BLUES.

Carving out a space celebrating the very best in Americana counter-culture, The Roadhouse is one of the most popular destinations in our land. It’s a celebration of underground music and all that comes with it: custom bike builders, vintage vehicles, exclusive merchandise & the most talked about bar of the weekend. We’re thrilled Desertscene are back with the best of #British heavy desert rock, psychedelia & stoner… see you there!
