We’ve all heard of the great American songbook, right? Those seminal songs written in Tin Pan Alley and performed in grand halls all around the world by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Liza Minelli. Well, The Great Americana Songbook is hoping to become Black Deer’s answer to that tradition… something with a little more earth under its feet and soul in its heart.
Black Deer Presents The Great Americana Songbook will debut in 2022 at Haley’s Bar on Saturday June 18th and is set to be an ‘I was there’ festival moment as AMA-UK Artist of the Year Robert Vincent will lead his band and very special guests from the world of roots music in a celebration of The Band’s ‘The Last Waltz’.
The legendary night, taking place on November 25 1976, is cemented in rock history thanks to Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed 1978 motion picture and is a rite of passage for any Americana musician or fan. Artists including Amy Helm, Ben Ottewell, William Crighton, Irish Mythen, AMA-UK Instrumentalist of the Year Anna Corcoran and many more* have all signed up to take their pick from one of the greatest set lists of all time and will be recreating the magic and music of The Band, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Neil Young and many more inside the intimate surroundings of our popular Haley’s Bar. Don’t you dare miss it…
