Matt Burgess

Hailing from New Zealand, Matthew Burgess started his career in his native country with the Matterhorn (Wellington), before moving to the UK in 1998, where he had positions with Soho House, D and D London, Gordon Ramsey’s Maze, not to mention multiple ventures with Jamie Oliver, including festival favourite – DJ BBQ. Currently the group Executive Chef for Caravan Restaurants, where the team is at the forefront of revolutionising free cooking.
 
No stranger to Black Deer festival, last year, Matt cooked his much-loved mackerel and tomatillo. This year, he’ll take to the stage again to educate festival goers about food from his home country of New Zealand.
