Ray “Dr. BBQ” Lampe grew up in Chicago, spent 25 years in the family trucking business and has been cooking award winning barbeque since 1982.
 
In 2000, with his decades of experience participating in BBQ cookoffs, Ray decided to take a leap and turn his hobby into a career. He quit the trucking business, moved to Florida and began his career as Dr. BBQ, the outdoor cooking expert.
 
Dr. BBQ is truly an original in the world of outdoor cooking and in those 35 years he’s done everything from winning national awards to writing 9 cookbooks (most recently “Ray Lampe’s Big Green Egg Cookbook”). His many appearances on the Food Network and his 2014 induction into the BBQ Hall Of Fame have officially branded his name in the barbeque and culinary world.
