Here’s your chance to be a part of the inaugural Black Deer ‘Cookout’. An action packed, fast paced, fire and smoke filled BBQ cooking competition taking place at the Black Deer Festival this June.
Running over the Saturday and Sunday of the event, each day sees four teams pitched against each other in live-fire cooking challenges, judged live on stage by an expert panel including Laura Rowe (editor, Olive mag), Chris Pople (Cheese ‘n’ Biscuits blog), Helen Graves (Food writer and editor), as well as some of our guest chefs including Neil Rankin and Romy Gill, and with legendary BBQ expert Dr.BBQ overseeing proceedings.
The team with the most points at the end of the weekend gets crowned Black Deer Cookout ‘Grand Champion’ and will be awarded with a smoking hot prize pot.

‘Cookout’ is free to enter and open to both professional cooks and amateurs alike. Whether you’re a team from a local restaurant or an enthusiastic backyard BBQ crew – we’re open to all.
