Danni Nicholls

2017 proved to be a wonderful year for Danni Nicholls; from supporting Shakin’ Stevens on his 28 date major UK tour to opening one of only two UK shows for Lucinda Williams plus being invited to perform at the Americana Music Association UK awards in front of notables such as Imelda May, Jools Holland and Van Morrison and to showcase at prestigious events such as Cambridge Folk Festival, Tonder Festival, Denmark and AmericanaFest in Nashville.

Her album ’Mockingbird Lane’ was nominated AMAUK ‘UK Album of the Year 2017, Danni herself was nominated as AMAUK ‘UK Artist of the Year 2018’ and has also been nominated on to the short-list of just five artists for ‘Best Country/Folk Act’ for the 2018 Unsigned Music Awards.

2018 is shaping up to be just as exciting having had an official showcase at the Folk Alliance in Kansas, an invite supporting The Secret Sisters on their UK and Ireland tour in March and the release of Danni’s third studio album in the autumn with an extensive tour.

From a young age, Danni was soaking up American folk, country and rock n roll music from her Grandmother’s record collection in her small home town of Bedford, UK. When she inherited her Uncle Heathcliff’s 1963 Burns London Shortscale Jazz guitar (rumoured to have belonged to Billy Fury!) aged 16, all those influences came pouring back out in the form of her own original material and has been flowing ever since.

Danni has released two critically acclaimed albums both of which were produced by bassist/producer Chris Donohue in Nashville TN and feature some of the city’s finest musicians including the legendary Al Perkins (Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, The Rolling Stones) Will Kimbrough (Jimmy Buffett, John Prine) and Steve Fishell (Willie Nelson, Linda Ronstadt).

Her vibrant, spell binding performances are guaranteed to melt your heart into the soles of your cowboy boots. Danni’s passionate delivery, captivating velvet voice and charmingly engaging between-song banter compel you to fall under her spell.
