At Black Deer you’ll discover a festival within a festival – one in which the young take centre stage.
In this land of theirs, there’s fun to be found at every turn. With the emphasis being on giving them endless opportunities to explore. Whether that’s through music, craft, or the great outdoors.
There’s an exciting range of activities* planned for your Young Folk at Black Deer Festival 2023, which you can discover below. But first, get a feel for Young Folk, by having a watch of 2022’s world for the young…
Woodland Tribe
We welcome back Woodland Tribe for the third year running, with this year’s theme being ‘farming.’ Throughout the festival, parents and children will build a tractor, a horse and a barn that will be used for a barn dance and hoedown.
Big Tree Climbing Company
Let your young folk join the team from The Great Big Tree Climbing Company as they take them up into the trees above the deer park. Don’t worry, trained instructors will teach them how to climb using a harness and ropes (available from aged 6-adults). There will be zip wire fun available for kids 5-8, too.
Outdoor Education Company
Help the guys from the Outdoor Education Company to conquer up to 15 different climbing routes on our 7.5m high wall.
Ukulele & Harmonica Workshops
Learn the basics of playing ukulele and harmonica in Europe’s premier Americana playground.
Tie Dye Workshops
Let the tongue folk tie dye a t-shirt or a tote bag in this fun and creative workshop.
Circus Workshops with Matt Bernard
Drop-in circus workshops for all ages. Learn juggling, spinning plates, stilts, pedals, diabolo, ribbons, flower sticks and more. Plus! Enjoy a 30-40 minute family show with comedy juggling and more…
Storytelling
Join us to explore tales of American folklore, woven together to explore stories from different traditions and cultures.
More!
There’s lots more for the Young folk to enjoy, including a Silent Disco, Craft Zone and Deer Hunt.
See you in the deer park…
